The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators and Hermes Equity Ownership Services launched their highly successful Transparency in Governance Awards in 2009. The objective of the Awards is to acknowledge high standards of governance disclosure in companies' annual reports. The Awards, backed by the Government, the FT, the ABI, the CBI and the QCA, provide a showcase for those companies who have excelled in their standards of corporate reporting.
The Award was presented at the ICSA Awards dinner last night at the Brewery, Chiswell Street, London, EC1Y 4SD. A prestigious event and, last year, was attended by over 500 influential guests from leading City organisations, including FTSE chairmen, company secretaries and other professionals associated with the work of the UK's boardrooms.
The event was hosted by the BBC presenter Emily Maitlis, and guest speaker was the TV commentator Michael Portillo.
Gaining this Award is an achievement recognised by many from within as well as outside of the organisation.
