Embedded Software Engineer

Munich, Germany / Remote Working (needs to be onsite in Munich 1 day per week)

Initial 12 month contract + extensions

Start date - January 2022

We are a small research team exploring the design space of anomaly detection and predictive maintenance for industrial electric drives. In our Munich lab we investigate the interplay of algorithms, real time software, processing, analog signal acquisition, power electronics and the motors themselves. We quickly build up demonstrators and testbench setups to investigate and benchmark novel approaches. Our results help drive decision making on future products.

Tasks:

We are looking for a self-motivated, curious embedded developer to support us in the following tasks:

* Creating analog signal logging tools to capture data on the testbench

* Creating motor control applications to test various pieces of HW and control schemes

* Supporting the deployment of AI algorithms on embedded HW

All of the tasks above are to be realized using various MCUs and associated chips and boards

Skills:

* C and associated tools (compilers, debuggers etc. etc.) is required (C++ is nice, but not critical)

* Good grasp of real time operating systems (RTOS) is required

* Familiarity with Matlab / Simulink for creating motor control loops, deployment to HW etc. is helpful

* Familiarity with python scripting is helpful

* Familiarity with the following tools is helpful though not required: Freemaster, MCUXpresso, eIQ Toolkit

* Familiarity with HW debugging and hands on work with oscilloscope, testing probe and a soldering iron is helpful

* Basic motor control knowledge is required

* Basic analog signal processing knowledge is required

* Fluency in spoken and written English is required, German optional, Bavarian optional
